Premium Bonds Change of Address

If you hold Premium Bonds and you're moving home, you need to update your address with NS&I directly. NS&I isn't one of the accounts SlothMove can notify on your behalf, so this guide walks you through updating your Premium Bonds address online yourself. It takes about three minutes.

How to Update Your Premium Bonds Address Online

You can change your Premium Bonds address online with NS&I in a few steps.

  1. Go to nsandi.com and log in to your online account.
  2. Select ‘Your profile’, then ‘Your details’.
  3. Select ‘Change’ next to your address.
  4. Enter your new address and confirm the change.

If you’re not registered for an NS&I online account, you can still complete your Premium Bonds change of address online using NS&I’s online form without creating one. You’ll need your holder’s number to hand.

Other Ways to Update Your Premium Bonds Address

By phone

Call NS&I on 08085 007 007 (or +44 1253 832007 from outside the UK) and give them your new address.

Write to NS&I, Sunderland SR43 2SB, including your name, holder’s number, and your previous and new address. Sign the letter. NS&I cannot process an address change without a signature.

What You'll Need Before You Start

  • Your Premium Bond holder’s number
  • Your previous address
  • Your new address
  • Your NS&I online account login, if you have one (not required)

Why Keeping Your Premium Bonds Address Up to Date Matters

Keeping your address current with NS&I matters for two reasons.

You could miss prize notifications

NS&I holds over 24 million customers and runs a monthly prize draw. If NS&I has the wrong address on file, prize notifications, account statements, and maturity notices go to your old property instead of to you. If you win a prize and NS&I cannot reach you, the prize is held until you’re traced.

It reduces the risk of mail fraud

If your financial mail is still being sent to a previous address, it can end up in someone else’s hands. Updating your address as soon as you move keeps your financial correspondence with you.

Who Else Needs to Know You've Moved

Updating Premium Bonds is one part of a house move. Most people also need to notify their council, energy and water suppliers, the electoral roll, DVLA, HMRC, the TV Licence, and their GP surgery.

  • Council, for council tax and local services.
  • Water, gas, and electricity providers, to keep billing accurate.
  • Electoral roll, to stay registered at your new address.
  • DVLA, for your driving licence and vehicle logbook (V5C).
  • HMRC, so your tax and benefit records are correct.
  • TV Licence, a legal requirement if you watch live TV or BBC iPlayer.
  • GP surgery, to keep your medical records current.

Update Everything Else in One Go with SlothMove

NS&I isn’t a provider SlothMove can notify directly, so this is the one update on your moving checklist you’ll need to complete yourself using the steps above. What SlothMove can do is take care of everything else, HMRC, the NHS, your council, and hundreds of other companies, all in one go.

FAQs

How do I contact NS&I about Premium Bonds?

You can call NS&I on 08085 007 007, or write to NS&I, Sunderland SR43 2SB. You’ll need to update your Premium Bonds address with NS&I directly, as this isn’t one of the accounts SlothMove can notify on your behalf.

What is the postal address for NS&I?

The postal address for NS&I is NS&I, Sunderland SR43 2SB. Include your name, holder’s number, and previous and new address, and make sure you sign the letter.

Do I need to register for an online account to change my Premium Bonds address?

No. If you’re not registered for an NS&I online account, you can still update your Premium Bonds address using their online form without creating one. You’ll need your holder’s number to hand.

Are Prize Bonds the same as Premium Bonds?

No. Prize Bonds are a similar product run by the Irish government’s savings agency, State Savings. Premium Bonds are run by NS&I in the UK. If you hold Prize Bonds, you’ll need to update your address with State Savings, not NS&I.

Are old Premium Bonds still valid?

Yes. According to NS&I, Premium Bonds remain valid for as long as you hold them, even if they’re twenty years old or more. As long as you haven’t cashed them in, they stay entered into the monthly prize draws.

What else should I update when I move house?

Alongside NS&I, most people moving home also need to update HMRC, the NHS, their council, and any loyalty cards or subscriptions. SlothMove’s home address updating service can notify all of these at the same time, though NS&I will need updating separately using the steps above.
