Clearscore is one of a handful of companies in the UK who are on a mission to help you understand your credit score.
As many of us know, when moving home it is important to update your address across all of your providers. This is especially important for government institutions and credit reference agencies.
We’ll cover exactly how to update your address with ClearScore and other important businesses online at the same time. We will also show you how to update your address across all of the credit reference agencies (Equifax, Experian, Trans Union).
Let’s jump straight in 😎
When you talk about updating your address with Clearscore there are two potential aspects. Firstly, is the address you have registered in your Clearscore account. And secondly, the address that is registered to you by your credit reference agencies, the Electoral Roll etc…
Updating your address within Clearscore will not update your address with your council, credit agencies or the registry office.
If you’d like an easy way to update your address across all of your providers, you can use our online change of address service.
With SlothMove you can update your address with Electoral Roll, your council tax & water, HMRC, NHS, loyalty cards and hundreds of other businesses.
You can get started with your change of address by using our award-winning service below.
The address on your credit report is your ‘digital address’ that credit reference agencies provide from the information they get. The electoral roll, your local council and banks supply this data to those agencies who in turn update your address. Therefore, you need to let all of these providers know that you’re moving which will complete your ClearScore change of address.
The process is simple, and once you’ve submitted our Sloths will get to work to update your addresses and setup your home. Therefore, to update the address on ClearScore simply:
STEP 1
Select who needs to know you're moving - Electoral Roll, HMRC, loyalty, etc..
STEP 2
Enter your previous address, new address and the date you moved home
STEP 3
Click submit and we'll update your address with accounts automatically
So, you’ve updated your address with the key institutions and businesses. In turn, they have updated your address on your credit referencing report and is now visible within your Clearscore dashboard. Now, you can also update your address within the ClearScore App.
To do this, start by logging into your ClearScore Account
From the ClearScore Dashboard select ‘My Account’, which can be found on the right hand side of the screen.
Then, simply click on ‘your details’ and on the next page you will see the address that ClearScore has for you on their system. Click edit and then ‘update’ and you will have updated your address with Clearscore.
Now we’ve covered how to complete your ClearScore change of address let’s turn to how it impacts your credit score.
Updating your address within your ClearScore account will not update the address on your credit files or reports. You will need to this this separately by updating your address with your utility providers, government institutions, and banks. You can do these address updates online and using SlothMove’s change of address service.
This will then update the address you see within your account on ClearScore.
The address on your credit score, whether that be Experian, Equifax or TransUnion, is supplied by external companies. These credit reference agencies such as HMRC or your local council.
Whilst your credit score report is updated once a month, it can take longer than that for your new address to show. A fair estimate for your address change to show in your credit report is 2-4 months.
Firstly, you must update your address on the electoral register & with your council. Then, every 3-12 months they provide a ‘data-dump’ to those agencies providing new moving data. The Credit Reference Agencies (CRA’s) must then update it on their system.
Having an incorrect address on your credit report can impact your credit score.
If you’re not sure you have updated all of the relevant companies, you may find it helpful to use our online change of address service which will also help with your ClearScore address change.
Your credit reports are a culmination of data CRA’s (credit reference agencies) have captured about you. When you move home it is completely normal, and in fact expected, to have some data from your previous address on there.
There is no need to dispute or remove any old addresses just because they are no longer valid. Just so long as your new address is on there, you’re absolutely fine.
