Iceland’s bonus card is unique and helps tens of thousands of shoppers bag more savings each month.
However, do you actually need to update your address with Iceland or the Food Warehouse when you move home?
In general, whenever you change your phone number, payment details or home address it is best practice to update companies with which you have a loyalty scheme.
By keeping your address up to date you ensure you get all relevant post and offers from Iceland to your current home address. This will also minimise the chance that your online purchases will go to the wrong address.
Your address is also one of the ways that Iceland will verify the identity on your account. As we know, updating your address really does help to prevent mail landing into the wrong hands. It may surprise you to know that mail fraud cost over £500 Million to UK citizens in 2019 alone 😱
Iceland’s bonus card doesn’t work in the same way as your traditional card. It’s quite different to an Advantage Card or Tesco Clubcard, for instance.
The bonus card for both Iceland & The Food Warehouse is essentially a savings card. You deposit money onto this card (either in store or online) and Iceland reward you for doing so.
Iceland rewards you with £1 credit on this card for every £20 that you deposit. So, if you deposit £20 onto your Iceland bonus card you would have £21 of credit to spend at the Food Warehouse or Iceland.
Essentially, it’s a 5% discount in store. It’s clever in the way that because you have money ‘loaded’ on your bonus card you are more inclined to return and spend at Iceland.
So, what are the benefits of Iceland’s bonus card?
In addition to getting £1 for every £20 that you save you also get free delivery when you spend £25 or more in store.
You also get access to new offers during exclusive periods, such as double points. At certain times Iceland will reward you with £1 for every £10 that you save, increasing the effective saving rate to 10%. Keep an eye out for coupons and special offers that may be on your receipt or visible in store to get the most out of your shop.
Iceland’s bonus card is clearly a great way to save money off your shop when you’re in store. Generally it works out to be a 5% discount meaning 1 out of 20 shops are free.
It is ‘quirky’ in the sense that you have to load cash onto it and get rewarded for doing so, when typically you accrue points when spending on other bonus cards.
That said, with the kick-back plus special offers that can mean more savings the bonus card is certainly worth it 👍
There are a couple of ways to update the address on your Iceland card. You can call their customer care team directly calling on 0800 328 0800.. You can also drop them an email at: customer.reply@iceland.co.uk
If you’re using SlothMove you will also be able to inform Iceland and lots of other companies too (other loyalty schemes, NHS, charities, Council Tax etc…) too if you need to without having to repeat yourself.
Most people wait until after they have moved before they complete an address change on their accounts. It is better to be proactive and let Iceland and your other providers know within two weeks of your home move. Updating your details will happen automatically, but you must remember that there could be mail communications out. So, to avoid any overlap it is good practice to give lots of notice.
You can join the loyalty programme by picking-up a card in store. If you do pick-up a card in store you will still need to register it online to activate it. This will enable you to start loading it with money to start saving.
After finishing this guide you will now have a clear understanding of how to update the address on your Iceland Bonus card. We’ve also covered how to get the loyalty card, how their reward system works and how to setup and update your accounts when moving home – easy peasy 😎
