Visitor Oyster Cards can also be purchased in person, but not one you’ve actually arrived in London. Instead, you can buy them from overseas travel agencies and some UK visitor centres.

They are also available onboard Eurostar trains travelling to London and at Gatwick & Stansted Airport.

To do this, simply touch your Oyster Card to the yellow reader at one of the ticket machines and follow the onscreen instructions. Make sure you also touch your card to the reader at the end of the process too to check the top up has been correctly applied.

Or, if you’d rather, you can add credit in person at a ticket desk in a station, at a Visitor Centre, or at an Oyster Ticket Stop within the city.
