The easiest way to update your address with Scottish Water, alongside other utilities and accounts, is to use our online home setup service. How can you update your address with Scottish Water?

There are three ways to update your address with Scottish Water.

You’ll need to let Scottish Water know that you’re moving in three circumstances:

  1. You have a supply with Scottish Water and you’re moving to another property within their jurisdiction (you can check on Water.org if you’re unsure). In this circumstance you will continue paying your bills, though your DD may changed based on water meters.
  2. You are moving into a property which is supplied by Scottish Water. In this case you’ll need to setup your water & sewerage. This will involve letting Scottish Water know you’re moving in and setting-up your payment plans
  3. You are leaving a property supplied by Scottish Water and are moving to a house supplied by another water supplier. In this case, Scottish Water will issue you a refund r or final bill within 4 weeks of exiting the property 

For all three cases (address update, water setup, and cancelling your supply) you can most easily organise this by using SlothMove’s home setup service.

  • 2) Enter your information (previous/new address, date of move etc…)
  • 3) Based on your postcode SlothMove will populated your council tax & water providers

To complete the Scottish Water moving house process you will need to provide:

  • Previous address
  • New address
  • Customer number 
  • Meter reading (if you live in a metered property)

You must update your address with Scottish Water when moving.

If you don’t let them know that you’re moving into the new property then you may continue to accumulate costs for your water & sewerage resulting in an unwanted balloon payment down the line.

Equally, if you’re leaving Scottish Water and you don’t update them you could be missing out on a refund. Or worse, you may have an unpaid bill that you don’t know about.

Either way, it’s much preferable to keep Scottish Water in the loop with your home move. You will also be able to keep abreast with key communications relating to water pressure, loss of service or drainage issues in your area.

How do I Transfer Scottish Water to my New Address?​

If you are moving home within Scottish Water’s jurisdiction you will need to complete the Scottish Water moving house process.
