According to the law, if you watch or record TV as it is being shown on TV you will need a licence.

2) Do you watch or stream programmes live?

If you watch or stream programmes live on an online service you will need a TV licence. This includes online platforms such as All 4, Amazon Prime, Now TV, Sky Go etc… You may be wondering, do I need to have a TV licence to watch Netflix? The good news is no. If you only watch subscription services you don’t need a TV licence.

3) Do you watch any programmes on iPlayer?

If you watch or download any programmes on BBC’s iPlayer you will also need a TV Licence (as you may have guessed)

So, how much does a TV licence cost in 2022? Until April of 2021, the cost of a TV Licence is £157.50.

You don’t need to pay anything if you are over 75 or are visually impaired. In either of those cases, the BBC will pay for your TV Licence

There are lots of ways to pay; you can pay monthly, quarterly, or yearly. Here’s a snapshot from the BBC’s website that explains the different payment options based on how you’d like to pay.
