There are lots of different reasons as to why you would want to update your address with Scottish Power. Perhaps your energy supply is with Scottish Power and you want to take it to your new home. Or perhaps you’ve taken over a property and Scottish Power are the incumbent supplier.

I am moving home and want to take Scottish Power to my new property

If you’re moving home you must let Scottish Power know. This is whether or not you want to take them to your new property or not. You can carry your supply over to your new property two or fewer weeks before your move. If you’re moving home, the easiest way to set-up Scottish Power at your new place and let them know you’re moving is to use SlothMove’s moving home platform. I am moving home and want to cancel Scottish Power

If you’re moving home and don’t want to be with Scottish Power anymore it’s important that we let them know. They will need to know when you’ve moved out and get your meter readings. This is important so that they can produce a final bill or refund to you.

I have moved into a property supplied by Scottish Power

If you have moved into a new property which is supplied by Scottish Power you may received letters addressed to the occupier, asking you to get in touch. The great news for you, as a home mover have no obligation to stay with the incumbent supplier.

So, what’s the problem?

As we know, you will either be on a fixed-rate tariff or a standard variable tariff.  When you move into a new property you will be automatically placed on a standard variable tariff which are notoriously more expensive.

That said, it’s important to get switched to a supplier that is in line with your preferences (ie, recommended supplier, 100% green, low-cost etc…).

Scottish Power change of tenancy

If there has been a change of tenancy within your property, either you (the letting agent/landlord) or the tenant can inform Scottish Power. If you would like the property to still be managed by Scottish Power (SP), you or the new tenant must then contact SP to provide the new tenants details so they can set-up the payments etc…

When completing the change of tenancy you will need to provide the following information:

  • o Forwarding information for the previous tenant so that SP are able to produce
