You’re likely here because you’ve just moved home and don’t know who supplies the energy in your new place. Or, maybe you’ve never known – either way, you’re in the right place.
Firstly, why is it important to know who your energy supplier is?
As we know, when you move into a new property you enter into a deemed contract with the incumbent energy supplier. This means, whether you want to buy energy from them or not, you will be buying energy from them.
The issue comes because these deemed contracts or ‘standard variable tariffs‘ or notoriously expensive. You will almost certainly be overpaying for your energy.

If you have moved into a new property and don’t know who the energy suppliers are there are three ways you can find out.
1) Speak to the previous owner or estate agent ✅
One of the easiest ways to find out who supplies your property is to simply ask your estate agent or the previous occupier. 90% of the time the supplier for your gas & electricity shall be with the same provider, so that should be easy.
Once you know who your energy supplier is you’ll want to get your energy set up.
2) Look at the mail ✉️
One of the largest issues for energy suppliers is not knowing when customers move home – when they leave and when they move in. As the occupier you will receive mail from a few companies you will receive emails addressed to ‘the occupier’.
You will usually get one of these from your energy company. The letter will be asking you to setup your billing information and, of course, letting you know who supplies the property.
